Security at a public computer at a Time Share?
I will be going up to Northern MI to a time share this summer and need acess to a computer to read email, download data to my Garmin GPS…. etc…. The time share has a PC in the lobby area that I can use. Would it be a big problem if I used it for personal use using passwords user ID's and so on ?
What can I do to safeguard myself?
It depends on what your passwords and user ID's are for. If you know how to cleanup after yourself, it may not be that terribly dangerous, but DO be casutious about what you access on a shared public PC. Obvious things are cleaning your browsing history and deleting temp files and cookies after each internet session. Additionally make sure that you do not ask Yahoo, Google, or Hotmail, or whatever mail prgram you sue to remember you. Also consider that users prior to you may have already checked this option.
Here is a link to an article that will educate you some more and make you aware of some potential pitfalls, and how you can further protect yourself.
